New information about Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 Air has emerged online, shedding light on its design, battery capacity, and potential features. The leak, sourced from Korean blog Naver via user "yeux1122," provides fresh insights into the phone’s specifications, suggesting it will be one of Apple’s thinnest and lightest models to date. The report also highlights the challenges Apple might face with battery performance due to the device’s slim profile.

According to the leak, the iPhone 17 Air will weigh approximately 145 grams and measure just 5.5mm thick. This would position the model alongside lightweight predecessors such as the iPhone SE 2 and iPhone 13 mini in terms of size and portability. However, this compact design comes with a trade-off, as the device reportedly houses a 2,800mAh battery. This capacity is notably smaller compared to competitors like Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge, which offers a 3,900mAh battery in a similar thin form factor.

The relatively low battery capacity has raised questions about whether Apple has compromised too much on power to maintain the slim build. Nonetheless, Apple is believed to implement advanced high-density battery technology. This innovation may boost usable battery life by 15 to 20 percent despite the smaller battery size. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had previously mentioned that this year’s iPhones would adopt new battery technology, and the iPhone 17 Air could be among the first to benefit.

Reports also indicate Apple’s internal testing revealed a lower user satisfaction rate with battery life for the iPhone 17 Air compared to previous models. Only 60 to 70 percent of users might experience a full day of use, a drop from the usual 80 to 90 percent Apple targets. To address this issue, the company may offer an optional battery case accessory to extend usage time.

Other rumored features include the omission of the Ultra-wide camera, likely to allocate space for internal components. The phone is expected to incorporate Apple’s C1 modem, which promises improved power efficiency and could help mitigate battery drain. The device’s display size is rumored to be 6.6 inches, larger than some previous models.

The iPhone 17 Air is anticipated to launch around September, potentially replacing the current "Plus" variant in Apple’s lineup. As Apple prepares for the official announcement, consumers and industry watchers are paying close attention to emerging details on the iPhone 17 series.
